What is the Essential Question that drives my work?
I wanted to focus on making digital art for my investigation. This is largely because I have, in the past, used mostly graphite pencils for drawing. I felt like my growth was stagnating and that it would be good to try experimenting with a medium I had practically no experience with. Another consequence of my prior focus on graphite drawings was that I was unfamiliar with using color in my artwork. It's because of this that many of my pieces are vibrant and saturated with colors. However, not all aspects of this investigation were new to me. My new works, like my previous ones, are profiles and portraits of fictional humans and humanoids. I like wanted to draw faces because constructing these once complicated countenances had become relaxing and intuitive to me.
